The phrase 'Code is Law' was first coined by Lawrence Lessig in his seminal 1999 book 'Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace' proposing that software code can regulate behaviour as effectively as legal code.

This concept has become increasingly relevant in the age of Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrency, where smart contracts and decentralised systems are creating new forms of digital governance.

The 'Code is Law V Code & Law' conference on February 20 2025 builds upon this foundation, bringing together global experts to explore the critical intersection of Bitcoin, blockchain, law, and digital innovation.

As technological advancement accelerates and regulatory frameworks evolve, the need for dialogue between developers, legal experts, and policymakers has never been more crucial.

This landmark event addresses the fundamental question: how can we harness the power of code while ensuring proper governance and protecting individual freedoms?
