A DONATION to Donald Trump's presidential campaign by the billionaire founders of crypto platform Gemini has been partly returned after it exceeded the maximum donation amount.

Twins Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss handed over $1m each to the 78-year-old former president for his current campaign to return to the White House.

The transaction came after Trump shifted much of his presidential campaign towards cryptocurrency, even stating that he wanted all remaining Bitcoin to be mined in the US.

However, Federal law only allows a maximum of $844,600 to be donated per person.

Trump's campaign committee were forced to return $155,400 to the 6ft 5ins Harvard and Oxford graduates.
